LOTN - Lip of the Night

Recently I was invited to Birmingham to celebrate the beautiful Sinead from DitzyMakeup's birthday. I had such an amazing time and her family and friends made me feel like I had known them forever. The lipstick I wore for our night out is on of my favourites at the moment so I just had to share the pictures with you.

What kind of lipstick addict would I be if I wasn't lusting after these bad boys? The beauty world has well and truly been set alight by the Revlon Lip Butters and I personally can not wait to get my grubby little paws on some. Question is, which ones?

Another discovery from The Sunday Girl blog and love at first sight. It is a gorgeous unique colour that looks gorgeous on Andreas lip swatches. However I do believe this was a limited addition release and may exist only on my lust list.

Mac Lipstick Collection

I have been asked a couple of times about my Mac lipstick collection so I thought I would do a blog post on it. I didn't realise but I actually have 41 Mac lipsticks which to many of you might seem ridiculous. Todays lip was a fail safe nude for me. Some people can't stand nude lips but when I have no idea what to put on I just grab one of my nudes and a lip gloss and I am ready to go. This nude is really new to my collection but I am already in love.

   On a recent trip to my local CCO a couple of Mac lipsticks caught my eyes. After a particularly bad day and knowing full well that nothing hangs around in a CCO for very long I decided to grad 3 and quickly hand over my money before I changed my mind. As I am sure most of you know a CCO is a Cosmetic Company Outlet where you can pick up current, discontinued and limited edition makeup items for a discounted price. I paid £9.50 for Of Royalty and Mlle and £10 for Naturally Eccentric.

I believe all 3 of the colours I picked up are now discontinued or were limited edition.

Today I went for a fairly standard brown nude lip. It is a pretty fail safe colour for every day wear with an added bit of gloss to hide any lingering dry bits.

The Lips

As a reference point I thought I would do a quick post about my bare lips. They are quite pigmented and I find it easiest if I cover my lips lightly in foundation or concealer before I apply any colour. This is also a really good way of getting the lipstick to show its true colour.

My lips are fairly dry and I have a terrible habit of biting on them so they are slightly uneven and are prone to the odd crack or flake.

You may also be able to notice from the pictures that I don't have a defined lip line. This is especially noticeable with my bottom lip. It isn't a massive problem with light coloured lipsticks but with darker colours and reds it can look a little strange and so I have recently invested in some new lip pencils.

The Lipstick Blog

I have had a love affair with makeup and blogging for a while now, in particular makeup blogs, and although I have had one or two (or three...or four...or five...) of my own, I have never quite found a place where I fit in.

It was pointed out to me by the gorgeous Makeup Savvy that I have more lipsticks than the average girl and it has been brought to my attention that I may have a small obsession with them (I can't see it myself) I adore lipsticks. Every brand, every colour, every shade, every texture. I can't seem to help myself, no matter how many I have I always seem to need "Just one more" so I thought there was no better idea than to create a little corner of the World Wide Web for Me, Myself and My Lipsticks.

So Ladies and Gents, Guys and Girls, May I introduce to you, The Lipstick Blog.
